If there truly idyllic beach in Thailand this is Big Buddha Beach, north of the island of Koh Samui, near the airport. Nothing better to do than sit sunsets on the beach, seeing the great Buddha to the right of the beach and watching the fishermen work.
A cheap and highly recommended hotel is the Nara Garden, where Manuel Vazquez Montalban was already in the eighties.
